Hello everyone, I wanted to let you know that I posted a new YouTube video all about sports broadcasting! The link to the video is hyperlinked in this paragraph. If you are into sports media, this video is for you! Want to learn more about how to get started as a sports broadcaster or hear some tips and tricks, watch the video!
There are two images in my YouTube video that were not taken from me or are already mine. The first one is a graph of sports broadcasts viewership over the years from Statista and the other is of the Rutgers men’s soccer team. I have hyperlinked both of them in this paragraph.
I expect users to find my video through this website and my own personal social media pages including my LinkedIn and Twitter/X account. If my audience views my website, they will also be able to find my YouTube video through here. I think they will find it worth watching because they can listen to advice from someone who is new to the sports broadcasting field and what I have learned so far from those with experience. Many aspiring sports broadcasters are college students just like me, so it will be nice to hear advice from someone their own age.
In Christine Wolf’s article about DIY Videos on YouTube, she states that “Practices of watching media content can be instructional and educational, but also transformative in shaping an individual’s perceptions of what is or might be possible,” (Wolf, 2016). Here, Wolf is saying that these “how to” videos on YouTube are educational but also open the viewers eyes to things they did not know they could do. This could lead the viewers to liking the video because it led them to something they did not know they liked previously. Wolf also states that “The practice of watching videos was a way for participants to configure who they are, who they might be, and who they want to be,” (Wolf, 2016). This means that the viewers watched this certain type of YouTube video because they want to learn about this certain subject and become a person who knows about it. This relates to my website because my viewers are watching my sports broadcasting video because they may want to be a sports broadcaster or are curious as to what it takes to be a sports broadcaster. After watching my video, the viewer may realize that they could be a sports broadcaster when before watching the video, they did not know it was a possibility.
