My personal brand and my plan to develop, communicate it to others

My personal brand is simple: I love covering sports and telling stories through my writing. By doing so, I like to think that my stories are a way of expressing myself, but also a means of informing people. After all, every sports game tells its own story, whether it’s a specific moment in the game or something about a player or coach. When I cover sports, it’s my job to find a story that informs the reader and connects them to the idea I’m portraying.

My unique skills and talents

I’d like to say that I’m very passionate about sports writing, which is something that sets me apart from others, and that I’ve only improved since I started at Rutgers, simply because of my time at The Daily Targum. In that role, I feel I’ve grown as a sports writer and have had great experiences traveling to Indianapolis and Philadelphia to cover tournaments. I convey my brand’s value to my audience through my writing, striving to maintain a professional and credible tone at all times. That reflects my work ethic and drive, as I always put in my best effort into every article, regardless of the sport or specific game.

My strategy to communicate my values and build an online presence

To maintain a constant presence, I primarily focus on using Twitter/X as a way to share my content and provide updates during my coverage of games. As for LinkedIn, it will serve as an online portfolio showcasing my experience and skills in my young journalist career. My presence must be consistent across both platforms so that people viewing my profile know what to look for and what they can expect when searching for my name. The type of content that I will create to engage with my audience on Twitter/X, as expected, is my articles. Whether it’s an analysis article or a column that provokes some thoughts, I want my audience to share their thoughts and engage with the content. On LinkedIn, I will also post my articles and share life updates that showcase my growth as a sports journalist, whether it’s starting an internship or interviewing a famous person, like I did with Carli Lloyd.

My short-term, long-term goals, and plan to overcome challenges

My short-term goal is to continue growing as a sports journalist and building credibility, becoming a respected figure that people look to for information. In the long term, I hope to write for a well-known outlet like The Athletic or ESPN, which would significantly boost my brand. To overcome the challenges I face, I will remain authentic to my true self while also being adaptable, as the internet is constantly evolving. I will do what is best to share my work, informing people and connecting them with the story I am telling.
